Many JLH Patterns have had a make over in the form of an expanded and refreshed size range. All new release patterns will now include 6 cup sizes (A to F) and range from an NZ size 6 up to a 34.
Please use the measurement charts and fitting information below to determine your JLH pattern size.
To determine your bust cup size, use the difference between your High Bust and Full Bust measurement.
- See my video here talking you through how to choose your cup size.
- See my video here on the importance of choosing the right high bust size.
Always choose your bodice based on your cup size first – you can then grade the pattern to get the right circumference elsewhere.
A Cup – 1cm (3/8″)
B Cup = 3cm (1 1/4″)
C Cup = 5cm (2″)
D Cup = 7.5cm (3″)
E Cup = 10cm (4″)
F Cup = 12.5cm (4 7/8″)
Example: if your Full Bust measures 96.5cm (38″) and your High Bust measures 89cm (35″), that is a difference of 7.5cm (3″), and therefore a D cup.
JLH Original VS JLH Curve Patterns:
Original and Curve patterns are based on 2 quite different blocks. Because of this, the cross over sizes (16-24 C+D cups) in each pattern set can have quite different shape, proportions and ease, even though they are technically the same size.
There is no clear cut way to choose which pattern set will fit your unique body. If you have made a JLH Original pattern before in these sizes and were happy with the fit, I would suggest using the Original patterns. If the fit has needed some adjustment, I would suggest trying the new Curve patterns. In either case, make a quick bodice toile to check you like the fit. It can also be useful to compare the Finished Garment Measurements included with each pattern.
All JLH Patterns are drafted for height of 170cm or 5’7″
Popular older styles will also be getting a re-fresh, however, for patterns still using the old sizing, please see the last photo in the pattern shop page.
