The Details

Boobs of all sizes rejoice! The Sorrel Dress now includes A to F cups, meaning no more baggy bodices or gaping button plackets.  If you thought shirt-waist dresses would just never work for you, Sorrel is a game-changer, I promise.

Shaped with double open-ended darts around the bodice and skirt waistline, Sorrel’s relaxed silhouette and sleek skirt provide the illusion of a fitted garment with all the comfort of a shift-style dress.

A simple foldout collar frames the face, creating a gentle V neckline and grown-on sleeves lend a casual vintage vibe.

Layer with fitted long sleeves and boots for cool weather, or make up in a seasonal double gauze or flowing cotton lawn for a light-weight summer garment.

View 1 includes a seperate button placket, great for playing with prints and different fabric layouts. View 2 has a grown-on button placket, helping keep the design simple and the construction straight-forward.

Multiple Bust Cups & Inclusive Sizing

The Sorrel Dress now comes in both the Original and Curve sizes individually, or in an economical bundle option where you can access both size ranges together, from sizes 6 to 34 with A to F cups.

You can find the new sizing information here, including how to choose your cup size.

Included in the instructions are a full set of Finished Garment Measurements, simply compare these to a similar garment you already like the fit of (or know you want to alter) and most of the hard stuff is done before you even cut out your pattern.

Sorrel is drafted for an average height of 170cm or 5’7″

Skill Level

The Sorrel dress is a perfect project for confident beginner seamstresses.

Sorrel looks more complicated than it is. The collar is cut in one with the front bodice and open-ended darts eliminate the troublesome bubble tip that so easily appear with traditional darts.

Fabric Options

The Sorrel Dress is suitable for a wide range of light to medium-weight woven fabrics with some drape.

Choose any of your favourite fabrics from cotton lawn, voile and poplin to linen, tencel and double gauze. Rayon and silks would make a lightweight and graceful Sorrel while mid-weight denims and corduroy would lend themselves to a more structured garment.

Meet the Models

Tatenda – Curve View 2 (grown-on placket)

Tatenda is wearing an 18D Sorrel Dress graded to a 20 waist+hip. Due to Tatenda being shorter than what the pattern is drafted for, the bodice was shortened by 1cm (3/8″) and the skirt hem shortened by 6cm (2 3/8″) at the lengthen/shorten lines. Due to the length adjustment at the skirt hem, one button was removed. A small 2cm sway back adjustment was also performed on the back bodice, above the open ended darts.
