The Details

With two completely different silhouettes — an A-line style tent dress and a slim-fit variation — Ivy transforms the everyday overall into a feminine and comfy garment with an option for everyone.

Button-down straps can be functional or stitched in place and top stitching can add a subtle or contrasting detail.

Fully lined and with pockets to boot, Ivy is a sturdy little number that is just as at home relaxing on the couch as it is kicking leaves and splashing in puddles. Team Ivy with boots for coffee on the weekend, wellies for digging in the garden or slippers for some fireside knitting action.

Sizing

The Ivy Pinafore now comes in both the Original and Curve sizes individually, or in an economical bundle option where you can access both size ranges together, from 6 to 34 with cups A to F. You can find the new sizing information here, including how to choose your cup size.

Ivy is drafted for an average height of 170cm or 5’7″

Multiple Bust Cups

Ivy now includes cup sizes A to F, so you’ll no longer need to make additional bust adjustments for the perfect fit.

Included in the instructions are a full set of Finished Garment Measurements, as well as detailed instructions on choosing the right size for your unique shape.

Skill Level

Designed for confident beginners through to advanced seamstresses. Learn techniques like inserting darts, top-stitching and how to fully line a garment.

Fabric Options

Make Ivy in casual denim or cosy corduroys and wools. Line with light-weight woven fabrics like cottons or anti-static linings (and if you don’t want to fully line your Ivy, check out the tutorial below on how to make an Unlined Ivy).

View 1 would also look gorgeous in floatier fabrics like silks, rayons and even sateen for a glam night out (just add a sparkly yoke, dramatic winged eyeliner and a beehive!).

The Details

The Georgie Pinafore is a classic semi-fitted wardrobe staple that has been updated to include modern elements like an exposed* zip and front patch pockets.

* If exposed zips aren’t your style, you can easily swap this out for your favourite type of zip, whether that’s a lapped zip, centred zip or invisible zip. Ample seam allowances are included for you to use any type of zip you like, with no pattern adjustments necessary – simply insert your chosen zip however you usually would.

The gentle rounded V neckline leads down to an exposed centre front zip with princess seam shaping over the bust for a smooth fit. Georgie’s shift dress silhouette includes light shaping through the waist, hips and back, with plenty of wearing ease for ultimate comfort during the day.

Make Georgie in a range of fabrics to suit your current season, from heavier wools, denim and corduroy for those in cooler climes, to heavier weight linen, lighter weight denim and barkcloth for a summer-ready pinafore.

Designed to be paired with light layers, Georgie is the perfect seasonal garment. Layer with long sleeves on cool days – Georgie is modelled here with the Gable Top, available in both the Original and Curve sizes with integrated cup sizes A to F.

For long summer weekends, style Georgie with a t-shirt underneath or nothing at all – the shoulders perfectly cover bra straps for warmer, non-layering days.

Pockets are incorporated into the front princess seam panel and the finished hem falls to just above the knee.

Place optional top-stitching around the neckline/zip/armscye and front/back  princess seams to give your Georgie Pinafore a more modern, utility look. Otherwise, leave seams clean for a 70s-style nod to mod.

Based on the ever popular Ivy Pinafore, if you love Ivy, you’ll love Georgie!

Skill Level

Georgie is designed for Intermediate Seamstresses, though if you’re confident and looking to up-skill, Georgie could be perfect for learning a new technique or two.

Techniques include inserting an exposed zip (though you can use any type of zip here), constructing an all-in-one facing and sewing in princess seams.

A video tutorial will be available soon that will walk you through the best method for inserting an exposed zip. Other tutorials will take you through inserting an invisible zip and a lapped zip if that’s more your style.

Sizing

The Georgie Pinafore includes both the Original and Curve size ranges. The Original includes sizes 6-24 with A to D cup bodices, and the Curve includes sizes 16 to 34 with C to F cup bodices.

Plus, Extra Finished Garment Measurements included…

If you’re worried about choosing a size, I’ve also included a whole bunch of additional Finished Garment Measurements, from the standard bust, waist and hips to armscye circumference and back width.

Simply compare these measurements to a similar garment you already like the fit of (or one you know you’d like to alter) and you’ll be surprised at how much of the hard stuff is already done.

You can read about the new sizing here.

Fabric Options

Georgie is suitable for a wide range of light- to mid-weight woven fabrics with some structure.

You can use denim, corduroy (including lighter pinwale or baby cord), suitings, brocade, drill and wool + wool blends.

For a summer Georgie, look for heavier linens, cotton ticking, light denim, poplin/broadcloth and cotton barkcloth.

Tatenda is wearing the Curve Georgie in a lighter denim with slightly less structure and Jen is wearing Georgie in a mammoth flannel (YES! You can make everyday clothes in flannel – secret pyjamas for the win).

Shipping & Delivery

Paper Patterns:

December 2019 Shipping Update – Patterns shipped from the UK!

Over the last few months of having paper patterns available, it has become clear to me that packing and processing orders has taken up so much more precious time than I had originally anticipated — time away from actually doing what I do best: designing and creating beautiful sewing patterns.

For this reason, I am slowly streamlining the process and turning this important step over to my printer in the UK. From now on, all new patterns that are made available in paper format will be shipped directly from the UK.

If your order contains a new-to-paper pattern (right now these are Vielle & Quincy), your order will be sent from the UK. However, as I still have some of the original tissue pattern stock (Sorrel, Pippi, Juniper, Ivy and Gable) orders containing any of that mix (as long as it doesn’t contain a new-to-paper pattern), will be sent from NZ to use up remaining stock.

Eventually, all orders will ship from the UK. This page will be updated when that step has been fully handed over.

  • To find out the shipping cost to your country, simply add paper items to your cart and use the Shipping Calculator at the bottom of the page.
  • Shipping prices are estimated at the checkout for a maximum of 3 paper patterns. For 4+ please contact me for a quote jen at jenniferlaurenhandmade dot com

With this change in mind, please note that pattern stock is changing too! With my new printer on board, all patterns are now printed onto 60g white paper stock and come in a sturdy cardboard envelope.
